Leisure/Blount connection

I made a post to my other blog that I think other Leisure's may find interesting.
This is about the Will Emay and Fanny Leisure's wedding and the Rev. Blount that married them.

Joseph and Eliza Jane Hinton

Joseph Leisure was born 13 Sep 1837 in Rush County, Indiana, the son of George Washington and Lucinda (Myers) Leisure. He was the fourth of eleven children and, as time went on, would have been a great help to the family which held considerable land in the county.

He married Eliza Jane Hinton in Rush County on 20 Jan 1859. The wedding was performed by Daniel Franklin, one of the early ministers of the Hannegan – then Church of Christ at Little Blue River. Eliza Jane was born 10 Jun 1836 in Nicholas, Kentucky, the daughter of James Layton and Elizabeth (Kersey) Hinton.

Joseph and Eliza were the parents of seven (one died in infancy) children, all born in Rush County: James Wash, 13 Nov 1859; Mary Frances “Fanny”, 26 Oct 1861; Lee W., 19 Feb 1864; John P., 08 Jul 1867; Noah J, May 1870; Oliver Carr “Carr”, 28 Mar 1873.

Joseph died 15 Sep 1896 from an abscess of the lung and was buried at Hannegan Cemetery.

Eliza Jane died 21 Sep 1915. Thanks to a distant cousin, Reta, I have a copy of the memorial card created at the time of her death.
