This is the stone for Sarah (Irvin) Leisure, wife of Nathan (1777-1865), at Hannegan cemetery, Rush Co., Indiana. I believe he is buried next to Nathan but there is no legible stone for him.
Welcome to the Leisure Family History Blog. Here we welcome anyone interested in genealogy and particularly those researching the Leisure line. Our lines descend from Joseph and Rachel (Ryan) Leisure, many of whom eventually settled in Rush, Grant, Henry, and Madison counties, Indiana.

The Trouble With Leisure
I don't mean to complain about the surname but, really, Leisure? Of course, there are the many variations - Leasure, Lasure, Laysure, etc, - which aren't quite so cumbersome; but the spelling used by most of our Rush and Henry county sure makes it difficult searching some databases.
When I'm using genealogy/surname specific databases the name isn't a problem. A keyword search under Surname just looks at surnames a brings back a reasonable number of results. But, have you tried a keyword search for Leisure in an historical newspaper database? I never would have imagined people in the 1800s would have had so much "leisure" time! It's amazing.
Has anyone else had this problem and, better yet, have you found a way around it?

Leisure Family Blog
Well, we're up and running. Last June at the reunion, I had hoped to have the blog ready to go by January and here it is!!
As time goes on we'll learn more about each other and our ancestors. We may even have same interesting facts to report at the 2011 reunion. There'll be more information on that later.
Please note, I've placed a page with information from my data on the 1st two generations of Joseph and Rachel (Ryan) Leisure. There will be more to come and, hopefully, some of you will add pages on your ancestors as our lines split off.
I'm looking forward to this family interaction:)
